India's central and state drug regulators tested more than 1,000 medicine samples in the latest monthly quality-surveillance cycle, according to a report citing the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation.
The testing identified 239 medicines as not of standard quality and one medicine as spurious. The affected list spans products used for conditions including hypertension, fever, cold and infection, as well as iron-related treatment.
CDSCO has published the detailed list on its website and sought explanations from the manufacturers concerned. Further regulatory action is expected to follow the responses and investigation.
