Fifteen newly appointed judges have taken oath at the Madras High Court.

Five were appointed as permanent judges and ten as additional judges.

The appointments raise the court’s working strength to 66 against a sanctioned strength of 75.

Nine judicial positions therefore remain vacant.

Judicial vacancies are closely watched because they affect case disposal, pendency and court administration.
